UniJos Lecturer, Prof. Piwuna Elected ASUU President 

A lecturer with the University of Jos, UNIJOS, Prof Chris Piwuna, has been elected as the new president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Piwuna is a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, 

The new ASUU President was elected at the 23rd National Delegates' Congress of the union, which took place in Benin on Sunday.

He succeeds Emmanuel Osodeke, a professor of Soil Science from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.

Osodeke completed his term in office after making remarkable efforts to strengthen ASUU and secure the improvement of members' welfare among others.

Prof. Piwuna is also expected to continue from where his predecessors, particularly, Osodeke stopped in terms of pushing for the welfare of the members, as well as other aspects of the Nigerian university system, among others.
