Senior Military Officer, Two Others Escape Death As Three Soldiers Are Killed In Tuesday Terrorists' Attack In Borno

Residents of the area who spoke in an interview with a Southeast Post reporter said that members of the Joint Task Force, JTF, of Hadin Kai, Operation Desert Sanity 1V, were attacked by the terrorists at about 2.25 am, adding that a reinforcement team despatched to the scene of the attack encountered an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, which led to the killing of the three officers and burning of their Toyota Hilux vehicle.
According to the residents, the terrorists had attacked the Forwarding Operational Base, FOB, Wadiroko in the early hours of the morning, promoting the authorities to request for air support before sending the reinforcement team to the area.
It was further gathered that the first reinforcement team had left while the second team was preparing to depart when the first team ran into the IED, planted on their way by the terrorists, leading to the explosion which killed three soldiers in the first team in active service, and the wounding of their colleagues in the second Toyota Hilux vehicle.
The second team led by one of the commanders was luckier as the victims sustained serious wounds from the explosion.
Details of the incident were said to be still very sketchy but the residents confirmed that they counted the bodies of three dead soldiers at the scene of the attack.
