No fewer than 14 persons including a newly wedded couple have been kidnapped by some unidentified gunmen in Enugu State.
The victims were returning from Iyionu to Aji, Enugu Ezike, in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of the state, when they were kidnapped and the bus carrying them and the newly wedded couple diverted into the bush.
A resident of Iyionu told the Southeast Post online newspaper that their new in-laws had left the venue of the wedding shortly before the kidnappers appeared from the forest and abducted 14 of the visitors.
According to the source, some other in-laws who traveled for wedding on motorcycles had crossed the area where the kidnappers were bidding in the forest before the incident occurred.
He gave the bridegroom's name as Peter Ogili, from Umuossai Igogoro but resident at Umenyi, Ulo N'Aji where he was brought up by his maternal uncle.
His words, "The bridal train was returning with the newly wedded wife in a bus when the incident occurred. Ogili is a motor parts dealer living in Lagos. The kidnappers have called some of our relations to demand N20 million ransom."
The police was yet to react to the development but reliable security sources told Southeast Post online newspaper, that the victims were taken to a bush in Akpanya Community in Kogi State.
