Former Governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, obedience and peaceful coexistence as Muslims mark the 1447 AH Eid-el-Adha.
Makarfi spoke in his goodwill message to Nigerians on Tuesday to mark the Adha celebration, urging Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s challenges and remain committed to national unity and development.
He said the season symbolised total submission to the will of Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to divine instruction.
His words, “The best way to express our gratitude to God is to continue to live in peace and keep on harnessing our diversity in order to explore and exploit the numerous opportunities He has endowed our nation with.”
According to him, Nigerians should take advantage of the festive period for sober reflection on the state of the nation and work collectively towards harnessing the country’s diversity for national progress, as the country's diverse human and natural resources remain major strengths that should be positively explored for the benefit of all citizens.
Makarfi, then prayed that the spirit of sacrifice, love and peace associated with Eid-el-Adha would strengthen national unity and usher in hope, security and prosperity, even as he also congratulated Nigerian pilgrims currently performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia and urged them to pray for the continued peace and development of the country.
