The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Katsina State, 58, has announced the passing away of one of its members, Alhaji Lawal Sa'idu Funtua, who died in the early hours of today (Thursday) in Katsina, after a protracted illness.
His death was made known by the Chairman of the Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim, in a statement on Thursday.
Left behind to mourn him include two wives, nine children and grandchildren.
Funtua will be buried in his home town, Funtua by 2p.m, according to Muslim rites.
He served as a two-term Chairman of the Correspondents' Chapel and made
significant contributions to the media industry during his life while working with the Katsina State Radio Service, Today, Leadership and Peoples Daily Newspapers, as well as, DITV Broadcasting Service among others.
Until his death, Funtua was the proprietor of the online media outfit Blue Ink.
Ibrahim asked the Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his immediate family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the strength to bear the great loss.
