Abduction: Gunmen kill Enugu Born Senior Military Officer In Abuja
An Army Colonel with the Military Intelligence, Abdussalam Ude, has been shot dead after putting up fierce resistance against armed assailants who attempted to kidnap him at his residence in the Kurudu District of Abuja, on Monday.
An Army Colonel with the Military Intelligence, Abdussalam Ude, has been shot dead after putting up fierce resistance against armed assailants who attempted to kidnap him at his residence in the Kurudu District of Abuja, on Monday.
Ude, who hailed from Enugu State, was a dedicated professional who was due for promotion to the rank of Brigadier General next year.
His attackers reportedly ambushed Ude shortly after he arrived at his home, opening fire as he alighted from his vehicle on Monday evening.
The gunmen latter attempted to abduct the officer, but he fought back, refusing to surrender to his assailants, despite being heavily outnumbered.
Furthermore, the gunmen also attacked members of his household, leaving his wife, driver and security guard with varying degrees of gunshot wounds, with the victims rushed to an unnamed health facility where they are receiving treatment.
Colonel Ude had served in several strategic military intelligence and counter-terrorism appointments within the Armed Forces.
He participated in numerous counter insurgent operations in Nigeria’s North-East and other specialised international assignments, including missions in the Republic of Chad and France.
On June 22, 2026, Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere, rtd, was murdered by armed men who invaded his residence at the Sunshine Homes Estate in the Lokogoma area of Abuja.
Udokwere was reportedly stabbed to death while attempting to defend his family before the attackers escaped with his firearm and other valuables.
