Gov Mbah Demands Immediate Release Of Nnamdi Kanu From Prolonged Detention
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has again demanded the immediate release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has again demanded the immediate release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention.
Mbah spoke during a question-and-answer session after his presentation on “Leadership and transformation” at the Showcase Session of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Annual General Conference currently going on in Enugu.
According to him, he had earlier met President Bola Tinubu on Kanu's plight, adding that releasing him now “was the right thing to do.”
While being urged by a participant not to give up on his advocacy for Kanu’s release, Mbah further said, “My first visit to the President was about Nnamdi Kanu.
“I believe that the right thing to do is to release him. Hopefully, that will be done soon.”
On the sit-at-home observed in the Southeast every Monday over Kanu’s detention, the governor noted that it was now a thing of the past in his state.
According to him, “We met a situation where people were compelled to stay at home every Monday.
“Now, people trade in Ogbete and other markets in peace on Mondays.
“Monday sit-at-home has ended in Enugu, as you (lawyers) can see. You can also move around and investigate.”
The IPOB leader is facing a protracted trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged terrorism charges.
