Lagos - based legal practitioner and rights activist, Dele Farotimi, said Thursday,  he remained undaunted over his trial for allegedly defaming the founder of Afe Babalola's University, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN.
Farotimi was earlier ron Tuesday, December 24, released from the Ado Ekiti Prisons, after meeting his bail conditions.
However, speaking through his X-handle,  Farotimi said he was not scared, noting that he cannot be ruined.
His words, "Tomorrow will be ‘when we kill him’. They then use rumours to ruin him. I face no fears. I have none."
Farotimi was on December 9, 2024, granted bail by the Federal High Court, sitting inEkiti granted N50 million bail with one surety, following a 12-count charge bordering on cybercrime filed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP,  against him.
Meanwhile, an Enugu- based lawyer, Mr Nick Abugu, had in a statement titled, "The Farotimi Foofaraw," condemned the use of public funds to prosecute Farotimi in what he described as a civil dispute between two private individuals.
Abugu's words, "It is beyond dispute that the Nigeria Police Force arrested Dele Farotimi before he was arraigned in any court charged with the commission of any criminal offence.
"Did any person formally complain to the Nigeria Police Force that Dele Farotimi did any act constituting a crime before the police arrested him?
"Did Aare Afe Babalola cause the police to arrest Dele Farotimi and,  subsequently, charge him to any court for committing any criminal offence?
"If the answer is yes, did the Nigeria Police Force arrest Dele Farotimi on any other ground apart from the complaint by or on behalf of Aare Afe Babalola?
"The answers to the above questions will help persons who may be agitated or have misgivings that the tax payers' money and public patrimony are being frittered away to finance the investigation and prosecution of what is, and should remain, a private civil dispute between Aare Afe Babalola and Dele Farotimi at a time hunger is stampeding Nigerians to death at Abuja, Ibadan and Okija in Anambra State to calm the turmoil roiling within and assailing these Nigerians."
