Court Discharges, Acquits, "Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate”  Of Terrorism Charges After Almost Two Years Detention
The Lagos High Court sitting at the Tarawa Balewa Square, has discharged and acquitted the "Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, Frederick Nwajagu, of terrorism charges after about two years of detention.
Nwajagu, 67, regained freedom on Thursday, January 16, 2025, after the court order, freeing him from.
He was arrested on April 1, 2023, after a viral video allegedly showed him threatening to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to Lagos to protect the properties of Igbo residents in the state, who were being harassed for allegedly not supporting the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates in the elections.
In the 49-second viral video, the “Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate” was heard saying, “IPOB, we will invite them.
“They have no job. All of the IPOB will protect all of our shops.
“And we have to pay them. We have to mobilise for that.
“We have to do that. We must have our security so that they will stop attacking us at midnight, in the morning, and in the afternoon.”
Following the alleged threats, Nwajagu was arrested and few days later, a Yaba magistrate court remanded him in prison, following which he was subsequently arraigned by the Lagos State Government on nine counts of terrorism and impersonation.
The court however held that the Lagos State Government failed to prove the charges brought against Nwajagu and ordered that he be released after spending almost two years in detention.
