Colombian Vice President Arrives Nigeria, To Meet Shettima, Business Leaders
The Colombian Vice President, Francia Márquez, has arrived in Nigeria for a three-day official visit. Marquez was accompanied by her husband, Rafael Yerney Pinillo Ocoró.

The August visitor was also, accompanied on the visit by cabinet ministers, top government officials and business sector leaders who would engage their Nigerian counterparts in discussions around key areas aimed at strengthening ties between both countries.
She was received on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, Minister of State, FCT, Mariya Bunkure, as well as the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.
Also on ground to receive her was the Director General of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Zubaida Umar, among other senior government officials.
Márquez’s visit is expected to deepen diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Colombia as well as enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education, and security, among others.
Highlight of the visit include the signing of memoranda of understanding in strategic areas of the economy, such as women’s empowerment, trade, aviation, manufacturing, agriculture, as well as culture, among others.
The plenary session will be attended by the vice presidents of the two countries and the Nigeria-Colombia Business Forum, as well as feature government-to-government bilateral meetings, high-level business sector meetings to be hosted by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, and a summit on artificial intelligence.
