Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has prayed against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, criticizing calls by SGF George Akume for Northerners to wait until 2031 for another presidential bid, citing regional leadership disparity.
Former Vice President and the 2023
presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has prayed God to forbid the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Atiku spoke against the backdrop of calls by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume on him and others to shelve their presidential ambition till 2031, noting that there was a six-year disparity in the leadership between the North and South.
“In any case, the power to elect and vote out their government lies firmly with the Nigerian people, entrusted to them upon the government’s ability to prove itself worthy of the people’s ballot.
“But has the Tinubu government demonstrated that it deserves to be re-elected? The answer, alas, is as clear as the heavens themselves — God forbid.”
