APC Stakeholders Accuse Former Enugu Speaker Over Frivolous Allegations Against Party Leaders In Southeast
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Igboetiti Local Government Area, LGA, of Enugu State have accused the former Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Eugene Odo of making baseless allegations against South East leadership of the party in a national television.
The members said that apart from Odoh having been suspended from the party, he has on many occasions demonstrated hidden membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and as such had since lost the integrity to speak for the ruling party in the country.
Odoh however said that the stakeholders were not worthy of his response, noting that "You don't need to be a member of any political party to air your views on affairs of the South East at the national level"
Odoh in a national television criticized the amended appointments made by President Bola Tinubu on the South East Development Commission, SEDC, which saw a formerly appointed member of the commission from Enugu North Senatorial district replaced by someone from Enugu West Senatorial district, saying that it was a  disadvantage against  Enugu North district with Enugu West district having two members in the commission while Enugu North was left without representation.
At a press briefing in Enugu on Monday, the chairman of APC in Igboetiti, where Odoh's hails from,  Simon Atta,  accused the former speaker of being ignorant to cast aspersions on the South East leadership of APC over nominations into the board of the SEDC.
The stakeholders however further noted that they were in support of the initial nomination done by the South East leadership of the APC led by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state which accommodated a member from Enugu North Senatorial district, adding that
Odoh, however, lacked s the legitimacy to speak on behalf of the southeast APC, as he is neither a member, supporter or  stakeholder of the party in the area.
"His baseless allegations against the nominations into SEDC or otherwise by the leaders of APC South East during this interview were unfounded and aimed at sowing seeds of discord which was his stock in trade when he was in APC when he completely undermined the party at the instance and puppetry of PDP Enugu State.
"His continued claims to speak for the APC are deceptive, manipulative, inciting, over reaching, mendacious, meddlesome and as inter loping as it is aggravating. We demand that he ceases all such activities or any further attempt to speak on behalf of the APC in his ward in Ukehe, Igboetiti LGA, Enugu state or southeast APC," Attah further noted.
