Gov. Umo Eno has tasked the newly inaugurated State Executive Council (EXCO) members in Akwa Ibom State with the need for teamwork and unity of purpose.
Eno said this at the inauguration of the Commissioners and Special Advisers at Government House, Uyo on Monday.
He also urged the cabinet members to look for solutions rather than engage in blame games.
He warned them against disunity, adding that his administration's new cabinet was not a war cabinet, but a delivery cabinet.
"This Exco, therefore, must be shaped by love, teamwork, unity of purpose, and the spirit of oneness.
"You must carry each other along as partners rather than adversaries, and you have to be very observant so that we do not allow one person to destroy collective attainment," Eno said.
He urged them to effectively collaborate to ensure the fulfillment of his administration’s campaign promises for the good of the people of the state.
"The central and defining element of this Exco is unity of purpose, teamwork, and positive collaborations to deliver on our campaign promises.
"You must commit this to memory and project it in all your engagements, and you will have a smooth time as Exco members," the governor said.
Eno said that the commissioners were not appointed to ignite unnecessary fights with other leaders at the local government, state, or federal levels.
"Our dream and desire is to continue keeping Akwa Ibom as an oasis of peace and tranquility, where investors and tourists will continue to come, live, and thrive," he said.
Mr. Aniekan Umanah, former House of Representative member (Abak, Etim Ekpo, and Ika Federal Constituency), was appointed as the Commissioner for Information in the new cabinet.
Mr Emem Bob, former commissioner for Economic Development, was also appointed the Commissioner for Finance, and Prof. Eno Ibanga returned as the Commissioner for Works.
Mr Ini Ememobong, former commissioner for Information, is posted to the Ministry of Special Duties as commissioner.
Dr. Ekem John is the Commissioner for Health, while Elder Paul Bassey, a veteran journalist and Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), is the new Commissioner of the Ministry of Sports.
Prof. Ubong Umoh is the Commissioner for Education, while Dr Offiong Offor returned to the Ministry of Agriculture as Commissioner.
There are 25 Commissioners and two Special Advisers in the new cabinet.
Three women also made the list of the new cabinet members.
