Adeleke’s Victory, Signal of NDC’s 2027 Chances in Kano

Kano State governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Aminu Gwarzo, says that Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election was a signal of what his party could achieve in Kano in 2027.
Gwarzo, spoke while reacting to Adeleke's re-election, noting that the outcome showed that political power ultimately belonged to the people in
an interview with PUNCH Online on Sunday.
According to him the election demonstrated the strength of democracy and the determination of voters to defend their mandate.
“The people have defended their mandate and demonstrated their resolve to protect the democratic process.
“They exercised their democratic rights and reaffirmed that democracy is truly working. Their participation has shown that the power ultimately belongs to the people, whose voices must be respected and whose choices must be upheld.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Adeleke of the Accord Party winner after he polled 511,067 votes, with his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Candidate, APC, Bola Oyebamiji, scoring 444,811 votes to finish second. The African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate came third with 17,180 votes.
Gwarzo however, urged politicians to respect the choices of voters, saying their participation had shown that democracy was working.
