Enugu 2023: Ngwo people lash out at Nkanu neighbours

...Accuse them of cornering all political positions meant for Enugu East District

... Say 2023 governorship position open to Isiuzo and Enugu Ngwo, not Nkanu

The people of Enugu Ngwo in both Enugu North and Enugu South Local Governments have again slammed the people of Nkanu land for not being considerate in their quest to occupy all political positions available to the people of Enugu East Senatorial District to the detriment of Ngwo and Isiuzo  counterparts.

Spokesman for  the Ngwo Nation and retired broadcaster, Mr Gabriel Ani, said the Nkanu land had four senators including two governors who spent 12 years in office as well as four senators who had jointly spent 28 years in office without considering their brothers and sisters from Ngwo and Isiuzo as they regard them as second class citizens.

On which zone to produce the 2023 governorship candidate, Ani said,  "The problem with our Nkanu leaders and people is that they are not grateful to God for the opportunity given to them to serve Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.

"These people from Nkanu served in these capacities: Senators Jim Nwobodo and Chimaroke Nnamani served as governors for 12 years.

Apart from the governors,  Oga Ikechukwu Nnamani served as a member of the Armed Forces Ruling Council, during the late General Sani Abacha's regime, when Senator Nwobodo was minister of Sports.

"Again, Nwobodo, Chimaroke Nnamani, Gil Nnaji and Ken Nnamani served for a total of 28 years as senators. No other person in Ngwo has had these rare opportunities, except late Chief C.C. Onoh who served as governor for only two months.

"It is the turn of Isiuzo and Enugu Ngwo to produce the next governor of Enugu State, but we are pleading with Isiuzo to allow Ngwo complete Onoh's term in office.

"If you come to the House of Representatives, Hon Offor  Chukwuegbo has been there for 12 years, Chief Agbo was there for four years while Hon Chime Agu from Ngwo was there for only four years. There are many other positions which are meant for all of us but they have colonised them by making us to look like their colonies.

"As Shakespeare once said in Julius Caesar,  is this Rome and room enough? This is an unfair situation. This is not the WAWA we all fought for! We want equity, fair play and good neighbourliness. We are all brothers and sisters and would want to be treated as such.

"That is why we are  pleading to Isiuzo in particular to allow us complete Onoh's  tenure because equity demands that it is either Ngwo or Isi- Uzo's turn to produce the 2023 governorship candidates for all the parties, going by the subsisting totational arrangement in the state."
