2023: Ngwo people cry out over marginalisation, say it's their turn to produce governor in Enugu East

The people of Enugwu Ngwo in both the Enugu North and Enugu South Local Government Areas of Enugu State, have said that it was their turn to produce the 2023 governor of the state, to enable them complete the tenure of Chief Christian Chukwuma Onoh who ruled for only two months in 1983.

Rising from a meeting of political leaders of Ngwo people on Tuesday at Enugu Ngwo, the people said that Nkanu people had no right to aspire to become governor after two of their brothers, Senators Jim Nwobodo and Chimaroke Nnamani had jointly ruled Enugu for for 12 years at the detriment of Ngwo Nation.

"We appeal to all the major political parties, especially the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Peopls Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, to zone their governorship slots to Ngwo which has two local governments in Enugu East Senatorial District.

"Nkanu people have used their opportunity of producing two governors at different times, ministers and member of the provisional military ruling council in the person of Ikechukwu Nnamani to attract more local governments to themselves at the detriment of other parts of Enugu zone in Enugu State and are using the new narratives to lord it over other components of the area.

"They  have furthermore, produced three senators in the persons' of Jim Nwobodo, Ken Nnamani and Chimaroke Nnamani.

We have not produced any Senator or even member of the House of Representatives as Chief Dubem Onyia who won in 1999 was not allowed to serve as member of the National Assembly.

"The people of Ngwo are asking for equity and fair play because, we believe in live and let live. We are appealing to our brothers and sisters in Enugu East to allow us complete the tenure of Chief C.C.Onoh, who was the leader of the WAWA people along with late Chiefs John Nwodo,

Chief Charles Abangwu, late Chief Augustine Nnamani, late Chief D.C Ugwu,  late Chief Raymond Iyidah and late  Chief Enechi Onyia, mong several others.
