MOTION FOR THE ENDORSEMENT OF PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU GCFR, FOR A SECOND TERM IN OFFICE, BY THE ASSEMBLY OF ENUGU NORTH SENATORIAL ZONE OF ENUGU STATE.
Motion Moved By:
Rt. Hon. Dennis Nnamdi AGBO (FCA)
This is the Assembly of Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
The Enugu North General Assembly, ENGA, has given 12 reasons why the Senatorial District should support both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State's second terms in office respectively.
Member for Igbo Eze North/ Udenu Federal Constituency, Hon Dennis Agbo, spoke while moving a motion for continuity of the two political office holders in Nsukka on Saturday.
Agbo said, " The Federal Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a remarkable show of patriotic zeal, at the onset of this administration in 2023, took bold reform initiatives critical to our national survival, development and progress, namely the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of exchange rates, both of which had constituted the foundation of institutionalized corruption and major impediment to the realization of our nation's potentials, and by so doing plugged leakages, conserving resources, and exponentially increasing our consolidated and distributable revenue for all tiers of government.
"Also, that The Federal Government of President Tinubu, by the facilitation of our dynamic and heroic governor, His Excellency Peter Ndubuisi MBAH, has for the first time in the 65 year history of University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, established on our soil, appointed our own son the erudite Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, a legal luminary, accomplished bureaucrat and seasoned administrator, the first indigenous Vice Chancellor of the UNN, giving us for once, a delightful and refreshing sense of belonging.
"Nsukka is aware, that the Federal Government of President Tinubu, has ended decades of marginalization and exclusion by appointing our sons and daughters into prominent positions hitherto considered beyond the glass ceiling of our aspirations in these parts:
"Our brother, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, is the current Chief of Air Staff, CAS, Major General Ifeanyi OOkoro
He'sORO is the current Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army.
"General Val Okoro, is the current Head of Training, Nigerian Army.
Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla rtd, is the immediate past Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, while Mr Frank Mbah just retired as (Deputy Inspector General of Police among others like Asogwa and Engr Ik. Ugwuegede among others.
"Is also known, that the critical Federal Road infrastructure linking us with the rest of Nigeria, namely the Oturkpo - Obollo-Afor - 9th Mile - Enugu Expressway, is now being funded, constructed and dualised
"Enugu - Onitsha Federal Highway is receiving substantial funding and progressing steadily, just as the Enugu - Port Harcourt dual carriage expressway is now getting regular funding and already more than 100 kilometres completed .
"The highly strategic Port Harcourt - Aba - Enugu Rail line, continuing to the Middle Belt and the North, has been given a firm promise of continuous funding and completion.
"Also Notes, that The Federal government of President Bola Ahmed TINUBU GCFR has made it possible for our State to be connected to the National Gas Grid to unleash our abundant gas resources, and ultimately confirm our status as an Oil Producing State, for full derivation advantage.
"Further Notes, that The Federal government of President Bola Ahmed TINUBU GCFR has identified and selected our capacity Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah even as model of reform possibilities, benefits of strategic alignment, and a visible demonstration that we who were once far off have been brought near, and integrated into the mainstream of the Nigerian Project, with all its benefits and symbolism for now and in the unfolding future of the Nigerian State.
"We are also aware, that by unity of purpose and semblance of vision, the new Enugu State has strategically aligned with the centre so that the efforts of our state government now produce the greatest good for the citizens of our state, and the future of our children.
"Cognisant, that the concession of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu is a critical enabler in the state's Tourism and Transport sector transformation road map, opens our state and country to the world, and makes Enugu a vital Aviation and Logistics hub in the South East, bringing tremendous linkage and GDP numbers to our economic growth.
"Understands, that the establishment of the South East Development Commission, SEDC, to coordinate our regional development, means that the South East can now undertake economic development planning at a regional scale, supported by venture funds of the Federal government that may not be within the scope and capacity of a state government.
"Believes, that Our interest as Igbos is anchored on economic liberalisation and the guarantee of a level playing ground on which to assert our industry and enterprise, so we will greatly succeed, thrive and prosper under President Bola Ahmed TINUBU's reformist Renewed Hope Agenda.
"Is mindful, that a Federal government that clearly means well, steadfastly working for national integration and inclusion, needs to be strongly supported and defended against the antics of reactionaries, corrupt individuals and economic saboteurs, so that our country can realize, and not reverse, the full benefits of reforms for national progress and development.
"This Assembly therefore Resolves to:
endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for a second term (2027 - 2031)
"Adopt the aforesaid President Bola Tinubu, as our Concensus Candidate for the office of President in the election of January 15, 2027.
"To do all in our power and capacity, as a Senatorial Zone, by campaign and enlightenment, to advance and defend this choice, and to create and sustain mass appeal and political support, to achieve our stated goal. I do move."
