Sultan Says Moon Sighted, As Ramadan Begins Today
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111, said Friday that a new moon had been sighted and urged all Muslim ummah in the country to commence fasting from today, Saturday March 1, 2025.

According to him, they have accepted the confirmation of the committees thus, asking Muslims to commence fasting accordingly from Saturday today, being the first day of Ramadan 1446AH.
He further appealed for understanding, tolerance and love among Nigerians even as he also, admonished the Muslim ummah to seek the face of Almighty Allah during the fasting period.
The Sultan used the occasion to implore Muslim Ummah to devote themselves fully to Ibadat throughout the Holy Month, and also implore them to show love and understanding to all irrespective of religion, tribe or political affiliations.
He also, urged Muslims to pray fervently for the blessings of Allah for leaders in the country to succeed in steering the affairs of the country, as well as sustenance of peace and and peaceful coexistence.
His words, “I want to implore all of you (all Nigerians) to continue to pray for peace and stability of the country.”
