Realignment: Atiku, Achike Udenwa, Gabriel Suswan, el-Rufai, Tambuwal, others meet Buhari Over 2027

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Friday led a delegation of prominent politicians, including former Governors of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Kaduna State, Nasir El- Rufai as well as their Adamawa State counterpart, Senator Bindow Jibrilla, among others to pay a courtesy visit to the immediate past President, Muhammadu Muhammadu Buhari, at his residence in Kaduna metropolis.

Others included former Governors of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswan;  Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa  as well as Senator Idris Umar; Hon. Mohammed Kumalia; Captain Yahaya Abubakar; Alhaji Musa Halilu (Dujima Adamawa); and Alhaji Salisu Makarfi.
These were contained in a statement by Atiku's Media Office. Atiku was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 elections.
The Media Office, however, noted that
the visit by Atiku; el-Rufai, and Tambuwal, also, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and now a senator, was part of the Eid-el-Fitr visit to Buhari.
Their meeting with Buhari is coming against the backdrop of reports of  realignment of forces ahead of the 2027 elections and just days after some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC also visited Buhari.
The visit by the governors of the APC fueled rumours making the rounds about the imment dumping of the the ruling APC by the components of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC- led by Buhari, which was one of the four partys that formed the APC, that ousted the PDP following the 2015 elections.
The statement further said that the demands of being the Waziri Adamawa made it impossible for the former Vice President to pay visits during the Sallah celebrations.
It said Abubakar had to be in Adamawa State, holding forth for the Lamido Fombina (Adamawa), HRH Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, at some of the activities of the Sallah period.
The statement also, noted,  “Today, he (Atiku), was opportuned to lead a delegation that included former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai,  on a post-Sallah visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari, 2015-2023, at his residence in Kaduna, Kaduna State,” adding that  the delegation later joined former President Buhari at the Friday Juma’ah prayer in Kaduna.
