Obi Laments As Professors Now Aid Illiterates To Rig Elections, Judges Sing "On The Mandate" Songs

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has expressed deep regrets over the poor state of  both the electoral and judicial systems in the country.
Obi lamented that professors aid Electoral malpractice by rigging elections for Illiterates  even as lawmakers  also weaken electoral laws and senior lawyers of defend forgery in courts.
He spoke Tuesday at the 2026 Goodluck Jonathan Foundation on Democracy Dialogue in Bauchi, the Bauchi State capital.
The NDC presidential candidate spoke of his experiences while challenging his elections in courts, noting what he described as the deterioration of the country’s sacred institutions.
His words, “I went to the Court of Appeal; five judges I had never met gave judgment in my favour. So, look at that and what is happening today in Nigeria, where professors are now aiding illiterates to rig elections...
“Where lawmakers have removed forgery as an offence in electoral matters. And Senior Advocates of Nigeria are defending forgery. Our religious leaders are now praying for criminal politicians for blessing. We have a crisis."
Obi further took a hard look at the judiciary, adding that some judges had become politically aligned.
“And above all, our judges are now singing, On your mandate we stand,”  he added, pointing out that, the developments were a sign of a wider institutional rottenness that needed to be treated
