NGO Writes Enugu Police Over Alleged Murder Of Amanda Okechukwu, Demands Thorough Investigations Of Attrocity
Our investigation revealed that after the Game Night of January 31, 2025, all the students involved parted ways and Amanda also happily went to her home near Goshen Estate, Independence Layout, hale and hearty.

20th February 2025,
The Commissioner of Police,
Enugu State Police Command,
Police Headquarters,
Enugu.
Dear Sir, We write to you in respect of the above mentioned matter and urge you to ensure that investigation is thoroughly conducted and the cause of death of the deceased determined.
We were informed that the mother of the victim had earlier circulated falsehood that the Late Amanda was beaten by her friends in a party held in one hotel in Enugu on January 31, 2025.
Our investigation revealed that after the Game Night of January 31, 2025, all the students involved parted ways and Amanda also happily went to her home near Goshen Estate, Independence Layout, hale and hearty.
Furthermore it should be noted while Late Amanda was full of life while she stayed in her family house from about 11.am of Saturday, February 1, 2025, to Monday evening of February 3, 2025, before she proceeded to her night shift at Raymond Anikwe Memorial Hospital, Independence Layout Enugu, where she worked.
We further gathered that the late Amanda returned from work in the morning of February 4, 2025, hale and hearty and she washed her clothes at home and subsequently cooked food in the kitchen before her sudden death.
The question is "What actually happened to Amanda?"
We submit that her elder brother and the mother who were with her in the house have questions to answer. We were further informed that the matter was reported at the Independence Layout Police Station, where the Divisional Crime Officer of the station arrested Amanda's brother but later released him without the knowledge of the DPO.
We were informed that when the matter was transferred to the Police Headquaters, the innocent colleagues and students of the Late Amanda were unlawfully detained for eight days, before they were released on bail.
It is curious that the late Amanda's mother Mrs. Chizoba Nwokolo, who reported the matter to the Hon. Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and the Commissioner of Police, has bluntly refused that autopsy be carried out on the deceased's body, in order to ascertain the actual cause of her death. The story of her brother at the Police Station that Amanda was cooking in the kitchen before he suddenly found her dead on the bed, with a Standing Fan on her body, while the cover of a cooking pot was near the door in the room is not tenable at all.
DEMAND/ACTION SOUGHT:
We submit that murder is a grievous offence under our law and the Police should not allow the mother of the deceased to trivialize it as if is a minor offence. The Police should act professionally in this matter and shun whatever antics of the mother of the deceased and those supporting her to stall Police investigation of this matter.
We demand that it is in the Public interest and justice that this case be thoroughly investigated and post mortem conducted on the body of the deceased to determine the actual cause of death of the deceased.
The citizenry and the State are entitle to know what happened to the amiable Amanda who is missing in the midst of her cherished friends.
