A student officer of the Nigerian Navy , has been murdered by an armed robber at Kawo Flyover Bridge, Kaduna, Kaduna State.
Following the development, plain clothes security personnel have been mobilised and tasked on covert operations to identify and clear all miscreants loitering around bus stops and other black spots in Kaduna Metropolis.
The deceased, Lt Commander M. Buba, number NN/3713, was killed recently when he was travelling back to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, AFCSC, Jaji.
The robber was however, later killed after being overpowered, by a large crowd which gathered after the hoodlum had stabbed another local vigilante official, one Suleiman Dahiru.
Dahiru had tried to come to Lt Commander Buba's assistance when the suspect also, stabbed him on the hand. The crowd that reportedly lynched the suspected robber instantly.
Security sources told reporters in Kaduna that, "There was an incident of murder of a Student Officer...Lt Cdr M Buba , a senior course student of the AFCSC Jaji was attacked and stabbed on the chest with a knife at a bus stop before Kawo flyover bridge -10.587200° 7.450018°) by a yet to be identified miscreant.
"The unfortunate incident occurred when the senior officer had a flat tyre while on his way returning to Jaji and he alighted from his car trying to change the flat tyre, when the unknown assailant suddenly appeared and demanded him to surrender his GSM phone and handover to him.
"The senior officer refused questioning the rationale when the assailant suddenly stabbed him on the chest with a local knife. "One Suleiman Dahiru, a local vigilante who witnessed the altercation attempted to help the senior officer but was also stabbed on the hand by the assailant too. "The assailant was subsequently overpowered and mobbed by nearby people who also killed him on the spot.
"The wounded senior officer was initially rushed to Manaal Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.
"The corpse of the deceased was subsequently evacuated to 44 NARHK mortuary for further action."
