Kano Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, Asks Supporters to Shun Violence Amid Palace Tensions

The  Emir of Kano and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged his supporters to remain calm and peaceful by avoiding any form of violence following the barcade of his palace by security operatives on Friday.

Armed security personnel in Armoured Personnel Carriers, APCs, were deployed to the Emir’s palace gates in Kano, preventing him from attending a royal ceremony in Bichi Local Government Area.
The Emir was scheduled to preside over the presentation of staff of office to a newly appointed district head.
However, delivering the Friday sermon at the Emirate’s Jummat Mosque, Sanusi urged his supporters to resist provocations and remain calm in spite of the level of temptations.
His words, "I warn you against falling into the traps of the enemies of Kano, who want to see Kano on fire.
"They always want to see killings, destruction of public property, and maiming of innocent lives.
“Islam admonishes you to be patient at any given time, whether in a difficult situation or at peace. Refusing to be patient creates uncertainty and difficulties, and in the end, everyone loses out .
"Anybody who loves us and supports us, we ask him to, at any given time, shun violence no matter what.
“Living peacefully with one another, no matter the provocation, is far better than violence.”
He further emphasized the importance of patience, calling for endurance during difficult times.
The Emir was reportedly scheduled to accompany the newly appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to his district in Bichi when security forces stopped his movement.
