Former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Chief Dubem Onyia, has died at the age of 73.

Former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Chief Dubem Onyia, has died at the age of 73. He died at an Abuja hospital on Monday.
Onyia, who hailed from Enugu Ngwo, in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State, was also a former member of the House of Representatives, and a close confidant of the former Vice President and Wazirin Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1999 but later resigned to serve as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2003, under the Olusegun Obasanjo's administration.
A seasoned diplomat and politician, Onyia played a key role in Nigeria’s foreign relations, holding strategic positions such as Chairman of the International Technical Commission for the National Boundary Commission, Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Joint Commission, and Chairman of the São Tomé and Príncipe Joint Boundary Commission.
Beyond politics, he served on numerous corporate boards and government committees, earning multiple national and international honors.
