A 55- year old man whose name was given as, David Amuta Omada has been beaten to death by his wife.
This was even as one of the deceased neighbours, Marcel Ugwuanyi, aged 79, also died some few hours after visiting David's family house to sympathise with the family of the deceased over the sad development.
Omada, who was a father of seven children, some of who were already grown up, was reportedly killed by his wife, at Umuagama, Enugu -Ezike, in Igbo- Eze Local Government Area of Enugu State on Wednesday morning.
The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of the day, when the deceased, a commercial motorcyclist (Okada rider) was setting out for the business of the day.
Residents of the community told Southeast Post online newspaper, that David who had been living with his wife, despite her poor mental health, was leaving the house when the woman demanded some money to buy some items.
The deceased was alleged to have pleaded with his wife to give him some time so as to do some runs with his motorcycle and then bring back the needed funds to enable her, buy some of the needed items.
According to the sources, David had after, pleading with wife, made to roll-off his motorcycle, when the suspect used a big plank to hit him at the back of his head, and he fell on the ground, gasping for breath.
It was further said that the wife used to same plank to hit him severally on the head as he was already lying down unconscious, and eventually, ended up smashing his head.
It was further gathered that although the police were informed, the suspect was yet to be detained as at Thursday evening, even the body of the deceased was buried on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, David's neighbour, Marcel Ugwuanyi, 79, who had visited to sympathise with his family before he was buried on Wednesday night, has died in the early hours of Thursday.
Marcel, who was hail and hearty during David's burial, and family head of Umu Aghara, in the community, died seven hours later at 4 a.m. on Thursday.
