Enugu Closes Chima Hospital, Ugbaike Over Alleged Unethical Practices
The Enugu State Ministry of Health has cealed the Chima Hospital and Maternity, Ugbaike, Enugu Ezike, in Igbo Eze North Local Government of the state over alleged unethical practices in the hospital.

The hospital was cealed over alleged reports that the proprietor was not a qualified medical practitioner, even as the clinic was being used for child- trafficking, illegal abortions among other criminal activities.
When the Southeast Post online newspaper visited the hospital, along the Amufie- Ugbaike- Inyi road last week, the place was desolate with gate under lock and key.
It was learnt that officials of the ministry swung into action following enquiries by detectives from the Police Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to a letter signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Magaji K. Mohammed, for the commissioner in c.tharge of the unit, the police wanted clarifications from the ministry on whether the proprietor was a licensed medical doctor and if the hospital was registered with the state government.
The letter titled "Investigative Activities: Re: Dr Ugumba Emmanuel Chmobi," and
dated March 5, 2026, read, "This office is investigating a case of criminal intimidation, harassment, abortion, child trafficking and threat to life against Dr Ugumba Emmanuel Chimobi, male, of Chima Hospital and Maternity, Ugbaike, Enugu Ezike, in.Igbo Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State, in which the need to seek certain clarifications from your office, has become imperative.
"In view of the above, you are kindly requested to confirm the following:
(a) If the above mentioned person is a licenced medical practitioner?
(b) If paragraph (1) above is in the affirmative, kindly furnish this office with the Certified True Copy, CTC, of his medical licence.
(c) Confirm if the above mentioned hospital is duly registered with the Ministry of Health, Enugu State.
(d) And any other information that will help the ongoing investigation. Accept the assurances of the warm regards of the Commissioner of Police, Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja."
