Former President Muhammadu Buhari is dead, the family has announced. The family announced the passing of Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023 on Sunday.
The former president also served as Nigeria's former military Head of State, from December 31,1983 to August 27, 1985.
Buhari, reportedly died in an undisclosed clinic in London, as confirmed by the family.
Born on December 17, 1942 in Daura, in the present Katsina State, Buhari retired as a Major General from the Nigerian Army, in August 1985, when he was ousted as head of state. More details later.
