Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai, Amaechi, others attend ADC coalition unveiling in Abuja

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,, Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party, LP, flag bearer in the 2023 presidential election, Mr Peter Gregory Obi, were among the coalition members who attended the unveiling ceremony of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,, Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party, LP, flag bearer in the 2023 presidential election, Mr Peter Gregory Obi, were among the coalition members who attended the unveiling ceremony of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Other prominent opposition leaders who attended the event at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, included former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, his counterpart in Kaduna State, Nasir El- Rufai; former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi; Senator Dino Melaye; a former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung; publisher and PDP chieftain, Dele Momodu; Senators Gabriel Suswam and Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party; and a former Governor of Imo State and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, as well as former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, rtd.

Furthermore, they included former Senate President, David Mark, who recently resigned his membership of the PDP, and the former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola. Mark and Aregnesola, were later appointed as interim leaders of the group in their capacities as national chairman and national secretary of ADC, respectively. 

The gathering cut across the PDP, Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, who had adopted the ADC as the political vehicle which would be used to challenge the ruling APC at the polls in 2027. Source
