The Anambra State government has banned the use of chams for acquisition of supernatural feats and wealth other than through lawful means of livelihood.
The government also, specifically banned the practice of "Okeite or Eze Nwanyi, under any guise, to administer any substance or charm, on any other person for the purpose of commissioning of any offence or for the purpose of wealth by supernatural means other than by any known lawful means of livelihood or who publicly propagates the accumulation of such wealth other than by any known lawful means of livelihood.
Clause 18 of the Offences on use of Supernatural Powers, also stated that any person or persons who "Commits the offence is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of six years with an option of fine of N20 million or both."
