Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has filed a fresh suit against the suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, for mocking him in a satirical apology to the Senate President.
Akpabio’s suit number CS/384/25 dated May 7, 2025, was filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The plaintiff is asking for a declaration compelling Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete the satirical post from all her social media platforms as well as tendering a written apology, to be published in at least two national newspapers, and an affidavit of compliance confirming her adherence to these directives.
Akpabio's Counsel, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, a SAN, told the court that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s post was a violation of a court order on April 4, which barred both parties from making public statements regarding ongoing sexual harassment allegations until the conclusion of the case.
The satirical apology
On April 27, Senator Akpoti- Uduaghan posted a satirical apology letter on her official Facebook account mocking Akpabio's leadership style of the senate and his alleged misconduct in the upper chamber, just as she ‘apologised’ for her “crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect."
She further noted that success in the Senate under Mr Akpabio’s leadership was not based on competence or merit, but on conformity to personal expectations.
