Fresh Crises in APC as Nabena declares self Acting Publicity Secretary

ABUJA-------- Fresh crisis has erupted in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena has declared himself the acting National Publicity Secretary.

Nabena said he took over from his former boss, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu following a court order to that effect.

However, reacting to the development, Issa-Onilu accused his deputy of mischief, saying there was no such order.

"There is no such court judgement restraining me. He is chasing shadows. I will speak on it soon," he said.

A Sokoto High Court had last week restrained the party from appointing or electing "Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu or any member," into its top positions except through a National Convention.

Nabena said in a statement in Abuja Sunday, that he was acting based on an understanding with Issa-Onilu to the effect that the latter would work in the interim towards vacating the court order.

"APC is a law abiding party and as leaders of the party, we must be seen to be doing the right thing at all times, including respecting the order of the court. In view of this, Malam Onilu has begun the process of vacating the order of the Sokoto High Court restraining him but pending the time this will be done I will act in his position.

"Unlike the former ruling party, APC has high regards for the Judiciary and we must be seen at all time to be practising what we preach," he added.

He then called for understanding among APC supporters worldwide just as he asked the media and other stakeholders to assist him in carrying out his assignments.

Nabena further assured the media of prompt responses to their enquiries to ensure mutual understanding between the party and the public.
