PDP holds State Congresses in Enugu, Benue, Delta States

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Saturday, held congresses in Delta, Benue and Enugu States to elect new executives into various positions.
In Delta, the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, his deputy Kingsley Otuaro and other stakeholders including members of the state and National Assemblies participated in the state Congress.

Others included the 2,803 delegates from the 25 local government areas of the state, who elected all the 14 executive members.
The tenure of the former executive members expired since May 10, but a care- taker committee was empanelled to take charge due to the COVID-19 pandemic which ravaged the world.

Most of the positions are unopposed as the former chairman of the party in the state, Kingsley Esiso did not have any opponent vying for his position
In Enugu, the PDP held its congress with delegates drafted from the 260 wards across the 17 local government council areas of the state .
The exercise was an affirmation to return the state executives, having served their first term. The new executive members were later cleared at the wards and local government congresses to be returned unopposed in Saturday’s state congress which held at the Michael Okpara Square Enugu.

Among those who voted during the elections included Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, his deputy, Cecilia Ezeilo, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and other state and National Assembly members as well as serving and past elected office holders.
The congress was conducted under strict COVID 19 guidelines, as everyone wore face masks as well as used sanitizers to disinfect their hands before entering the election ground.

The PDP Congress in Benue followed same peaceful pattern.
