Matthew Kukah, has urged Nigerians to ask about the backgrounds of candidates jostling for positions in the 2027 general elections, in order to make the right choices, noting that their votes should have direct impact on their survival and well-being.
Kukah spoke on Friday during the 70th anniversary celebration of Saint Finbarr’s College, asking voters, particularly young Nigerians, to thoroughly scrutinise candidates by making use of information available on the internet and social media to examine the backgrounds, records and achievements of candidates seeking elective offices, before deciding whom to support or vote for.
The Bishop further said Nigerians could blame the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, government and security agencies over the shortcomings in the electoral process, but must also be ready to accept responsibility for the choices they make at the polling booths.
According to him, Nigerians were not helpless over which candidates to support and vote for, given the amount of information now available to them about political candidates in both the media and Internet and urged young people to take the 2027 election very serious by voting to stay alive.

“Please vote to stay alive,” he further pleaded warning the citizens not to make electoral decisions without first investigating those seeking their votes thoroughly.
