2025 Budget: NASS Postpones Resumption To February 4
The National Assembly has postponed it's plenary resumption, earlier scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, 2025, to Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives announced the development in separate statements on Friday.
The Clerk of the Senate, Andrew Nwoba, who informed senators of the shift in resumption date, said the postponement was due to the ongoing defence of the 2025 budget proposal by ministries, departments, and agencies.
His words, “Please be informed that there is a change in the resumption date due to the ongoing budget defence. It has been rescheduled from Tuesday, January 28, 2025, to Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11:00 am. prompt.”
In a related development, the Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Akin Rotimi said “the postponement is necessary to allow Committees sufficient time to conclude ongoing budget engagements and defences with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs.
“The House remains committed to fulfilling its legislative mandate for the benefit of Nigerians and appreciates the understanding of all stakeholders.”
President Bola Tinubu on December 18, 2024, presented the 2025 ₦49.7tn budget proposal before a joint session of the National Assembly for approval.
