Bayelsa State council of NUJ begins monthly jogging/fitness Exercise on Saturday


 

 

Yenagoa---------------- The Chairperson of the Bayelsa State chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Maria Olodi-Osunma, has expressed the hope that the newly-introduced monthly jogging and fitness exercise would serve its purpose.
The exercise which was organised by the Bayelsa State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, got underway in Yenagoa weekend..
Journalists and friends of the NUJ in the state had converged on the Peace Park at Onopa, opposite Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa at 7 a.m. for the take-off of the event.
They then jogged passed through the Melford Okilo Road, before ending the exercise at the NUJ Press Centre along Azikoro Road.
 “I hope that more members will take advantage of the exercise to keep fit subsequently,” Olodi-Osunma said, while speaking to newsmen after the event,
Also speaking, the state Chairman of NUJ in the state, Samuel Numoneng, assured that tprogramme would be held every first Saturday of the month.
”It is a programme geared towards keeping journalists fit mentally and physically,” he said.
In his comments, the Chairman of Bayeslsa NUJ Sports Committee, Datonye Alambo, said the challenges experienced in the maiden editio byn of the programme would be reviewed adding that,
“measures will be put in place to improve upon the exercise."  
Guests who participated in the exercise included the Director-General on New Media to the Bayelsa Government, Kola Oredipe.
