Nsukka Knights of St Mulumba, KSM, Celebrate Distinguished Knights, Ladies of the Order

Knights of St Mulumba,  KSM, St. Peter’s Sub-Council, University of Nigeria  Nsukka, UNN, have honoured Knights and Ladies of the Sub-Council who have distinguished themselves in various capacities since their admission into the Order.
The historic event, which formed part of series of activities that marked the formal splitting of the Sub-Council into two – St. Peter’s Sub-Council and Seat of Wisdom Sub-Council Nsukka, – took place at the Mulumba Hall, St. Peter’s Sub-Council of the university.
The Prizes/Award ceremony was the first of its kind in the history of St. Peter’s Sub-Council - courtesy of the inspirational leadership style of Worthy Grand Knight, Sir (Prof) Linus U. Anih and Noble Lady President, Lady (Prof) Theresa Ofoegbu.
In his brief remarks shortly after the opening prayers, the chairman of the occasion and immediate past Worthy Grand Knight of the old St. Peter’s Sub-Council, Nsukka, Sir (Prof) Anih welcomed the awardees, their special guests, and worthy brothers and sisters to the landmark event. He thanked God for His abiding grace that had seen the Sub-Council through the teething challenges of her formative years of defending the Catholic faith and supporting the Church through the instrumentality of the knights and ladies’ talent, time, and treasure. Sir Anih congratulated worthy brothers and sisters, who emerged as winners of the pioneer Prizes and Awards cycle after passing through the rigorous process of nomination, scrutiny, and eventual qualification and implored them to see the Award as a renewed tonic for re-calibrating the wheel of toiling in the Lord’s vineyard. In particular, the Worthy GK commended Sir (Chief) Jonathan C. Emejulu, whose membership of the Honoured Order spans sixty-seven years, for his resilience, perseverance, and meritorious services since he joined the KSM Nigeria in 1956, three years after its formal inauguration in 1953. He equally praised members of the Bro Patrick Ngoddy-led Award Implementation Committee for their doggedness in the course of discharging their duties creditably in line with the Guidelines of the Operating Manual for the Prizes & Awards.
While kick-starting the ceremony, the Worthy Lecturer, Bro Chris Agbedo remarked that the prizes and awards came in two categories - Long Service in Good Standing Award and Award for Excellence. After all due process, 83 worthy brothers and sisters emerged as pioneer winners of the Awards and Prizes distributed as follows: 61 for Category 1 and 23 for Category 2. The Long Service Award had five batches – Diamond (Service of 50 years & above in good standing - 1), Gold (Service of 40 – 49 years in good standing – 4 sisters), Pearl (Service of 35 – 39 years in good standing – 5 brothers & 7 sisters), Silver (Service of 30 – 34 years in good standing – 4 brothers & 8 sisters), Bronze (Service of 20 – 29 years in good standing – 13 brothers & 19 sisters).
