HONOUR AT HOME: THE OBATERU TWINS CONFERRED WITH CHIEFTAINCY TITLES IN ERUKU

An adage says that the best honour a man can get is the one from his people. This became true for Dr. Kennie Obateru, the immediate past Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, his twin, Associate Professor Taye Obateru and their spouses who were recently conferred with chieftaincy titles by the Owa of Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Busari Olarewaju.

The conferment was part of activities to commemorate the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the traditional ruler. Kennie bagged the title Otunba of Eruku while his wife, Mrs Monisola Obateru became Yeye Otunba. Taye was conferred with the title, Bobagunwa of Eruku and his wife, Mrs Agnes Dupe Obateru, Yeye Bobagunwa.

Also honoured were Canada-based Dr. Rufus Olufemi Ayeni as Asiwaju of Eruku and his wife, Mrs Jane Titilayo Ayeni as Yeye Atunluse of Eruku.

Oba Olarewaju said the honour was in recognition of the pivotal role and contribution of the recipients to the development of the community.

He believed that such recognition would spur them to do more and inspire others to also take seriously the importance of contributing to the growth of their communities.

“The award is expected to spur others to stand and be counted in our march towards the modernization of our community“, he stressed.

The occasion, which was chaired by one time Minister of Industries, Chief Kola Jamodu, had many eminent personalities, including former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sola Amosu in attendance.
