Abuja Police On Manhunt For Kidnappers Of 9 Residents


Abuja-------The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Commissioner, Bala Ciroma is leading the manhunt to arrest the kidnappers of nine residents including a 12 year old boy by suspected kidnappers. Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers reportedly abducted the nine people in a remote village in Pegi, Kuje, Abuja Monday night. The police however, said Tuesday that it has begun a manhunt for the arrest of the criminal elements who allegedly perpetrated the heinous crine. FCT Police Commissioner, Ciroma, who spoke said he was personally coordinating the manhunt for both the abductors and the kidnapped persons. “As I am talking to you, we are inside the bush moving on. There is no motorable road. Even motorcycle cannot pass through but we are weathering it in difficult conditions, to let these criminals know that the police will come after them wherever they are hiding," Ciroma said. Southeast Post was reliably learned that no fewer than 20 kidnappers waylaid their vehicle as it was entering Pegi community, a resettlement area in Kuje Area Council of the FCT at about 8 pm. He said the suspected kidnappers dressed in military camouflage, shot at two vehicles, including a NISSAN Frontier and Toyota Solara, deflating their tyres to cripple the vehicles before taking the occupants into the bush. The kidnappers later demanded N10 million ransom from a relative of the kidnapped persons. Pegi is said to be a remote village between the FCT, Nasarawa and Kogi States.
