Plateau State Police have arrested three individuals suspected of mobile phone theft in Jos. The arrests took place on August 29 around 2:00 PM, near the Rantya Roundabout in Jos South Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson Alfred Arabo, the suspects were apprehended while attempting to steal mobile phones from unsuspecting residents. The group had lured their victims into tricycles by posing as businessmen before robbing them of their belongings.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to being part of a criminal network specializing in thefts in the Landia community and surrounding areas. They revealed their modus operandi of tricking victims into pedicabs to facilitate their thefts.

Seized evidence includes an Android phone and a tricycle with registration number PT 17437. The arrest of these suspects is a significant step in addressing the rise of mobile phone theft in the region.
