Senator Dino Melaye Says PDP Chairman, Damagum, Samuel Anyanwu, Umar Bature Destroying Party

The Kogi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the  2023 election, Senator  Dino Melaye says that an end has come for the PDP in the political space, as the party had not only been commercialised but privatised.

Melaye who spoke weekend accused top officials of the top party including its acting National Chairman, Iliya Damagun, the national Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu and the national Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, as having destroyed the party.
In a post via his X handle on Saturday, Melaye, who is the former Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial  District, accused the three top officials as conniving with enemies of the PDP to destroy the party.
His words, “End of the road for PDP as Damagum, Bature and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time.”
Melaye further accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of allegedly favouring the ruling APC.
His outburst followed the accusations by PDP lawmakers in the House of Representatives blaming Damagum and Anyanwu for the woes of the party..
The lawmaker had accused the party leaders of plotting to sabotage the PDP by aiding defected former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly with legal backing.
According to them, the duo’s move was an attempt to impeach the Rivers State governor, Sim Fubara from office.
The spokesperson and member of the House of Representatives representing Ideato Federal Constituency, Ikenga Ugochinyere, had listed some events which he said were a calculated attempt by Damagum and Anyanwu to weaken the PDP.
However, responding to the claims of sabotage against him, Damagum warned that nobody could intimidate him into resigning from his position.
He spoke during the inauguration of the PDP National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him, those calling for his resignation were merely enhancing his popularity instead of destroying it.
