Police Arrest 27-Year-Old Man for Kidnapping Edo Community Leader
The Edo State Police Command has arrested Ibrahim Yahaya Jolly for allegedly kidnapping Ibino, a community leader from Ugbogui. The arrest was confirmed by SP Moses Joel Yamu, who unveiled five suspects involved in various crimes.
The Edo State Police Command has arrested 27-year-old Ibrahim Yahaya Jolly for allegedly kidnapping Ibino, a community leader from Ugbogui in the Ovia South-East Local Government Area of Edo State. The arrest was announced by the command’s spokesperson, SP Moses Joel Yamu, during the unveiling of five suspects involved in various criminal activities across the state.
Yamu revealed that Jolly was apprehended after receiving a ransom of ₦7 million from the victim’s family. The arrest was carried out by the Intelligence Rapid Response Team (IRRS), which tracked down the suspect. The police spokesperson also noted that Jolly confessed to the crime and has been cooperating with authorities to apprehend other accomplices and recover their weapons.
Commissioner of Police Nemi Iwo expressed gratitude to the citizens of Edo State for their support and urged continued cooperation with law enforcement agencies to combat crime in the state. “The government will not tolerate criminals; they should move elsewhere where the law will still catch up with them,” Iwo stated.
