Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, says that there would be severe consequences if he was forced to speak on the ongoing crises in the party.
Damagun noted that he was being pushed to the wall over the prolonged crises in the PDP, pointing out that, "if he were to open his mouth, the consequences for the PDP would be unpleasant."
The PDP had been embroiled in leadership struggle, with 60 PDP House of Representatives members demanding Damagum's resignation over allegations of anti-party activities and being in bed with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. The United Kingdom chapter of the PDP, had furthermore expressed loss of confidence in Damagum's actions.
Also, Damagum had been accused of doctoring caretaker committee member lists in Rivers State and at least 10 other states, allegedly appointing APC agents as PDP members, even as the party's crisis had deepened, with a faction accusing Damagum and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, of undermining the party's interests.
