Fire Guts Forty Shops in Ibadan, Goods Worth Millions Destroyed

A devastating fire broke out at the Olanyan Market in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday, causing significant damage. The blaze, which affected the Herbal Market in the Ibadan North East Local Government Area, destroyed goods worth millions of naira. As of Wednesday, the cause of the fire was still unknown.

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the chairman of the Senate Elections Committee and a representative of the Oyo South Senatorial District, addressed the situation in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abbas. Senator Alli expressed deep concern for the affected traders and assured them of his continued support.

He called on government agencies, individuals, and organizations to step in and assist the victims in recovering from their losses. Additionally, he urged the relevant authorities to expedite their investigations into the cause of the fire and to implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“I urge the government to immediately provide aid and assistance to the affected traders to help them recover from the losses and rebuild their businesses,” Senator Alli said. He also called on the public to show unity and compassion during this difficult time, pledging to continue advocating for the victims and working to secure further support for them.
