Dangote Refinery Will Boost Nigeria’s Economy, Save Foreign Exchange - Governor Abiodun Commends Tinubu
Governor Dapo Abiodun praises the Dangote Refinery for its role in enhancing Nigeria’s economy, addressing fuel shortages, and saving foreign exchange through local fuel production.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has lauded the commencement of fuel production at the Dangote Refinery, emphasizing its potential to significantly strengthen Nigeria’s economy. He highlighted that the refinery’s operations will address long-standing inefficiencies, eliminate fuel shortages, and save substantial amounts of foreign exchange.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran, Governor Abiodun noted that the partnership model between the Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) will ensure the availability of daily gasoline production at filling stations within the next 48 hours. He praised Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s unwavering commitment to completing this multi-billion dollar project, despite numerous challenges.
Governor Abiodun also extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his vital intervention, which was pivotal in ensuring the refinery’s operation during his administration. He noted that this achievement is a turning point not only for Nigeria but for the entire African continent.
“The opening of this refinery marks a significant change in our local energy landscape, showcasing a strong vision and commitment to economic development. It will serve as a game changer in gasoline production, reducing our dependence on imported fuel—a dependency that has strained our foreign exchange reserves and hindered our economic progress,” Abiodun stated.
He also highlighted the broader economic impact, noting that the refinery is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, thereby reducing unemployment and revitalizing the local economy. The stabilization of fuel production will improve Nigeria’s energy security, attract foreign investments, and foster a more conducive environment for business and industrial growth.
Governor Abiodun concluded by expressing optimism that this milestone aligns with President Tinubu’s broader economic transformation agenda, aimed at reducing Nigeria’s reliance on foreign oil imports and promoting sustainable economic growth.
