Plans are underway for President Bola Tinubu to visit China in the first week of September 2024. During the visit, Tinubu is expected to meet with Chinese Premier Xi Jinping to discuss bilateral issues and further strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
A key agenda for the visit will be finalizing the terms of the contract for the Ibadan to Abuja railway project with the management of the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC). This project is part of a broader initiative to improve Nigeria’s infrastructure.
According to Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngerare, the visit will also aim to boost foreign direct investment in Nigeria, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, energy, trade, and communications. Several memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed during the visit, further solidifying economic ties between Nigeria and China.
