Breaking News: Gunmen Kill Assistant to Edo State Assembly Speaker

Samson Omoarebokhae, Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, was tragically killed by unknown gunmen on August 31, 2024. The incident occurred while he was traveling from Ozala in Owangsi Local Government Area of the state.

Ivy Adobo-Ebojele, the Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker, disclosed the news in a condolence message to Omoarebokhae’s family, as reported by the Southeast Post. Following the shocking news, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku dispatched a team to convey the Assembly’s condolences to the family of the late assistant.

Odion Iruobe, the Chief of Staff to the Speaker, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a significant blow to the Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Owangsi Local Government. Iruobe emphasized that Omoarebokhae was a trusted member of the Speaker’s staff, and his untimely death is a painful tragedy for everyone who knew him.

In his statement, Iruobe offered words of comfort to the bereaved family, urging them to find solace in the belief that God would provide them with the strength to overcome this difficult time. He also prayed for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace and for God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Elijah Omoarebokhai, the brother of the deceased, expressed the family’s gratitude to the Speaker for sending a delegation to share in their grief during this trying time.
