Enugu Monarch loses two grown up sons, a lawyer and engineer within six days


The people of Enugu Ezike in Igboeze Local Government Area of Enugu state have been thrown into a state of mourning following the sudden death of two grown up sons of the paramount ruler of Aji Community, Igwe Simeon Osisi Itodo in the area.

 The traditional ruler who was a member of the House of Representatives during the Second Republic and former  chairman of Enugu state Council of Traditional Rulers, lost his two sons, a lawyer and an engineer within six days.

Itodo who is the father of the current chairman of Igboeze North Local Government Area, Ejike, is currently the patron of the state council of traditional rulers. Ww2

 However, his two deceased sons, Jude and Ogbonna were said to have been sick and were visiting both the US and Germany for medical checkups before the COVD- 19 pandemic which has affected socioeconomic activities across the globe.

Family sources said that Ogbonna, a lawyer and his younger brother, Jude had been ill but their heath conditions were  being managed by foreign doctors before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jude who died  last Friday was scheduled to go for his regular check up in US but could not undertake the trip because of the global ban on travels..it was learned that when Jude reportedly relapsed, his doctor was briefed about the development on phone.

His physician was said to have recommended some medications based on the results of a scan carried out on him in Nigeria. 

"The physician was said to have recommended some drugs that should be taken while efforts were being made to bring him to America for a thorough medical checkup.

"He was said to have been taking the drugs religiously before his condition suddenly worsened and he died on Friday morning,"  they said.

According to the sources, the family was making arrangements for him to be flown abroad for treatment when he died.

The preparations for his travel was said to have reached an advanced stage when the Federal Government imposed travel ban in the country and closed all the international airports.

He died on Friday and was buried on Tuesday. The burial was attended by close family members, friends and sympathisers .It was after Jude's burial that family members were also informed of Ogbonna's death.

Jude, who died in Cross Rivers State where he was residing with his family of four. Ogbonna is expected to be buried anytime from now.
