Negligence and recklessness on part of Imo Governor and police chief caused Imo mayhem

The For: Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network, CRRAN; has described the statement by the former Deputy Director of State Services, DSS, Denis Amachree, that the DSS provided actionable intelligence report to the Imo State governor Hope Uzodinma and the State Commissioner of Police, a week before the attack on the Correctional Center and the Police Headquarters as worrisome.

Amachree further stated that same intelligence report was repeatedly sent 72hours and 24 hours before the attack but both the state governor and the police commissioner failed to act on this reports until the mayhem which led to loss of lives and property.

CRRAN's President, Olu Omotayo, said that "in normal clime the Commissioner of Police would by now be facing disciplinary action to exit him from the force while the Imo State governor should by now tender public apology to the citizens of the state and tender resignation but the other way round is the situation as the governor is busy running his mouth that the attack is the handwork of aggrieved politicians."

According to CRRAN, "the question is, what did the governor do with the inteligence report placed before him by the DSS a week, 72 hours and 24 hours before the attack.

"The action of Imo State governor who as the Chief Security Officer of Imo State but who failed to take necessary steps to forstall loss of lives and properties is to say the least reckless and shameful. It shows a man who is unprepared to govern.

"What happened in Imo is a humiliation of the countrys' security apparatus. It should never repeat itself again. Those responsible for this public humiliation should bury their heads in shame."
