Gov Mbah Approves Full Implimrntation Of N30,000 Minimum Wage To Primary School Teachers, Payment of 5 Years Arrears Of Leave Allowances, Others ---- NUT


The Enugu State governor, Barr Peter Mbah, has approved the full implementation of N30,000 minimum wage to primary school teachers in the state, with its consequential adjustments.

Mbah, has also, approved the payment of all arears leave allowances and then  key

into the payment, of whatever minimum wage to be negotiated by the on-going National Minimum Wage Committee.

These were contained in a circular to primary teachers in the state by leadership of National Union of Teachers, NUT,  in the state. 

The memorandum titled, "Dear esteemed members of NUT, Enugu State Wing, Good News From Enugu State Government," read, "His Excellency, the Governor of Enugu State, Dr.{Barr.} Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has graciously given approval for the commencement of payment of the following to Primary School Teachers in Enugu State with effect from this February, 2024:

"1.Full implementation of the #30,000 Nat.Minimum Wage with it's consequential adjustment; 

"2.Payment of all outstanding arrears of leave allowances

"Promise to key into the payment, across board, of whatever Minimum Wage to be negotiated by the on-going National Minimum Wage Committee. 

"The leadership of NUT, Enugu State Wing, heartily appreciates His Excellency, the Governor for this uncommon gesture. 

"On the other hand, NUT in the state cautions all primary school teachers in the state to beware of some people who masquerade as teachers to mislead the teaming NUT members into engaging in demonstration or protest as recently published in the social media, as those elements are not known to the union.
