Senator Shehu Sani condemns killing of 15 security personnel by terrorists in Borno

Senator Shehu Sani has condemned Friday's killing of three soldiers, eight policemen and four Civilian TJF personnel by terrorists at Baga in Borno State.

Sani, however asked the state Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum to exercise greater caution while travelling to areas controlled by the insurgents to reduce the frequent attacks on his convoy, just as he condoled affected families over the death of their loved ones.

The 15 victims were in convoy with government officials proceeding to

Baga when they were ambushed at

Korochara, about two kilometres from the base of the Multi-National Joint Task Force towards Monguno.

The 15 security personnel were killed  four days  after an army colonel, C.D Bako, and three other soldiers were killed by same terrorists in another ambush in the state, bringing the total to 19 within four days.

“Three soldiers, eight policemen, four C-JTF members died on the spot as the insurgents rained bullets on the unsuspecting members of the convoy at about 2.05 pm,” an official of the Borno state government told reporters on the condition of anonymity.

Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, who is expected to supervise the arrival of the IDPs at Baga, had left Maiduguri earlier in the day via a military chopper.

However in his reaction through his Tweeter handle, Senator Sani regretted that "The attacks again on the convoy of Governor Zulum by the insurgents is condemnable.

"The Governor must be well protected. Inview of this,he should exercise greater caution in areas still controlled by the terror groups. Condolences to the families of the policemen lost."
